WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEEK 13 RECAP

MOUNTAINEERS FACE CHALLENGE WITH A LOSS AND A WIN IN WEEK 13

Game 1: Tough Loss for Berea in 53-71 Defeat to Transylvania University
Location: Berea, KY
The Mountaineers tipped off Wednesday night's game against Transylvania University, winning the first quarter 14-11. Despite this strong start, the Bats fought back in the second quarter, outscoring Berea 19-12. Coming out of halftime with momentum, Transy dominated the third quarter, scoring 26 points to Berea's 13. Although the Mountaineers closed the gap in the fourth quarter, they managed only 14 points to Transy's 15.

LynKaylah James delivered another standout performance, recording a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Dailyn Spalding also made significant contributions with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Game 2: Close Yet Prominent 75-70 Victory Over Franklin College
Location: Franklin, IN
This past weekend, the Mountaineers faced Franklin College at Spurlock Center in Indiana. Berea opened strong, scoring 20 points in the first quarter while allowing the Grizzlies 17 points. Franklin rallied in the second quarter, edging the score 20-18. After halftime, both teams delivered a balanced performance, scoring 17 points each in the third quarter. However, Berea powered through to seize the victory in the fourth quarter, winning the game 75-70.

Key performances included LynKaylah James with 21 points and 6 rebounds, Jayden Merriweather contributing 19 points and 8 rebounds, Drea Satori with 10 points and 7 assists, and Dailyn Spalding grabbing 9 points and 10 rebounds.
