MEN'S GOLF WEEK 1 RECAP

BEREA COLLEGE MOUNTAINEERS GOLF START SEASON STRONG AT MAGGIE MOUNTAIN INVITATIONAL
Location: Prestonsburg, KY
The Berea College men's golf team kicked off their season last week at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. The Maggie Mountain Invitational was the same tournament the Mountaineers started with last year, but this year produced much better results. Newcomer Isaiah Newby led the way, posting scores of +11 in Rd1 and +10 in Rd2 for a two-day total of +21. Falling one spot behind Newby was freshman Benjamin Parsons, with rounds of +13 and +9, finishing at +22 overall. Returners Zach Hudson and Braden Hudson both posted sub-90 rounds; Zach shot +19, 89 in both days, while Braden improved from +20 in Rd1 to +15, 85 in Rd2. Rounding out the team was sophomore Ezra Smith and Joshua Decker. Smith finished with Rd1 at +18 and Rd2 at +30, while Decker posted rounds of +28 and +30. Overall, the Mountaineers improved by more than 100 shots compared to the same tournament last year.

MOUNTAINEERS CONTINUE STRONG PLAY AT FOREST HILLS INVITATIONAL
Location: Richmond, IN
At the end of the week, the Mountaineers were back in action at the Forest Hills Invitational in Richmond, Indiana. Facing a very tough course, the team gave their best effort. Leading the way was freshman Benjamin Parsons, who placed 25th overall—the highest finish for a Mountaineer in the last two years. Ben scored +11 in Rd1 and +10 in Rd2, for a total of +21. Next was Isaiah Newby, who finished 52nd, with rounds of +16 and +13 totaling +29. Three Mountaineers finished close behind in 64th, 65th, and 66th. Ezra Smith scored +21 and +27 for a total of +48, with Braden Hudson just behind at +23 and +26, totaling +49. Freshman Joshua Decker finished with rounds of +23 and +29, while freshman Corbin Tacker ended with scores of +48 and +40 for a combined total of +98. The Mountaineers return to competition on Saturday, September 27th, at the Stateline Shootout in Harrison, Ohio.
