Mountaineers Compete in Series Against Anderson and Franklin Colleges
Game 1: Berea vs. Anderson
The baseball team returned to action on Tuesday, hosting conference opponent Anderson for a two-game series. Anderson jumped out to an early lead, scoring eight runs over the first three innings. The Mountaineers responded with two runs of their own during that stretch, showing determination at the plate. However, Anderson took full control in the fifth inning, erupting for 10 runs to put the game out of reach and secured an 18–3 victory.
The Mountaineers finished with nine hits in the game. Sebastian Roman and Michael Mauney led the offense with two hits apiece, while Zach Hudson, Peter Torbicki, Giovanny Ortiz, Aiden Blaszkowski, and Landen Griffey each added a hit.
Game 2: Berea vs. Anderson
The second game of the series was a competitive matchup throughout the early innings. Anderson struck first with a run in the top of the third, but the Mountaineers quickly responded, scoring two runs to take a 2–1 lead heading into the fourth. The back-and-forth continued as Anderson regained the lead in the sixth inning with two runs, making it 3–2.
The turning point came in the top of the eighth inning when Anderson broke the game open with an eight-run rally, extending their lead to 12–2. The Mountaineers continued to battle, adding three runs in the bottom half of the inning in an effort to spark a late comeback, but the deficit proved too much to overcome as they fell 12–5.
The Mountaineers recorded nine hits in the contest. Giovanny Ortiz and Sebastian Roman led the offense with two hits each, while Zach Hudson, Michael Mauney, Peter Torbicki, Ty Palmgren, and Landen Griffey each contributed a hit. Starting pitcher Grabiel Martinez delivered a strong performance, pitching four innings and allowing just one run.
Game 3: Berea vs. Franklin College (Game 1)
The Mountaineers continued a busy stretch of games on Saturday as they hosted Franklin College on Senior Night, honoring Miguel Serra, Lawrence Griffey, and Giovanny Ortiz. Franklin set the tone early, scoring 10 runs over the first two innings to take control. The Mountaineers responded with a run in the bottom of the second to cut the deficit to 10–1, but the early surge proved difficult to overcome. Both teams traded runs for the remainder of the game, with Franklin maintaining its advantage and securing a 14–5 win in the series opener.

Game 4: Berea vs. Franklin College (Game 2)
The second game of the series followed a similar pattern, with Franklin jumping out to an early lead by scoring in each of the first two innings to go up 2–0. The Mountaineers responded with a run in the bottom of the third, and both teams added a run in the fifth, making it 4–2. Franklin then broke the game open in the sixth inning, putting up seven runs to extend their lead. The Mountaineers were unable to recover from the big inning and ultimately fell 13–2.
Berea finished with seven hits in the contest. Landen Griffey led the way with three hits, while Zach Hudson, Peter Torbicki, Giovanny Ortiz, and Sebastian Roman each contributed a hit. Starting pitcher Edrick Rivera turned in a solid outing, pitching three innings and allowing just two runs.
Game 5: Berea vs. Franklin College (Game 3)
The final game of the series took place Sunday afternoon and featured a strong performance from both teams. The game remained scoreless through the first three innings before Franklin broke through, scoring eight runs over the next three frames. The Mountaineers responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to cut the deficit to 8–3. Both teams added runs in the ninth, but Franklin maintained control and secured a 10–5 victory.
