Mountaineers Conclude Season with Series Against Manchester University

Game 1: Berea at Manchester University

The Mountaineers returned to action this past weekend as they traveled to Manchester University for their final series of the season. Manchester came out strong early, scoring four runs over the first two innings. The Mountaineers responded with two runs in the top of the third inning, but Manchester quickly answered with a seven-run inning of their own in the bottom half. From there, the deficit proved too much to overcome as Berea fell in game one by a score of 13–2.

The Mountaineers finished the game with six hits. Contributions at the plate came from Landen Griffey, Michael Mauney, Spencer Blackwell, Lawrence Griffey, Aiden Blaszkowski, and Corbin Thacker. Lawrence Griffey got the start on the mound for Berea, pitching 2.1 innings while allowing eight runs.


Game 2: Berea at Manchester University

Game two of the series followed a similar pattern for the Mountaineers. They managed to get on the board first with a run in the opening inning, but Manchester University responded quickly with seven runs, building a commanding early lead. The Mountaineers added another run in the top of the fifth inning, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome as Manchester secured an 11–2 victory in game two.

Berea finished the contest with six hits. Miguel Serra led the offense with two hits, while Michael Mauney, Peter Torbicki, Sebastian Roman, and Corbin Thacker each added a hit of their own. Grabiel Martinez got the start on the mound for the Mountaineers, pitching 0.1 innings and allowing seven runs.

Game 3: Berea at Manchester University

The final game of the series featured an exciting start for the Mountaineers, but Manchester eventually pulled away late in a 15–5 loss. Berea got on the board first in the top of the opening inning thanks to a solo home run from Peter Torbicki. Manchester University answered with six runs in the bottom half of the inning, but the Mountaineers quickly responded with four runs in the second to cut the deficit to 6–5. Manchester regained control from there, scoring nine unanswered runs to close out the game and complete the series sweep.

The Mountaineers recorded eight hits in the contest. Peter Torbicki, Eli Thomas, and Corbin Thacker each finished with two hits to lead the offense, while Sebastian Roman and Aiden Blaszkowski also contributed hits. Edrick Rivera got the start on the mound for Berea, pitching one inning and allowing six runs.


The Mountaineers wrapped up a challenging season, but the team remains optimistic and looks forward to building toward a stronger year next season.
