Koty Riley, a native of Tollesboro, Kentucky, attended Lewis County High School before joining Coach Hemenway’s first recruiting class at Berea College in 2011. He played two seasons for the Mountaineers; in 2011–12 he appeared in 26 games (15 starts) averaging 6.6 points and 3.0 rebounds, and in 2012–13 he started all 31 games, averaging 9.6 points and 3.4 rebounds and scoring in double figures 17 times, including a career-high 18 in the Homecoming win over Bryan College.
Riley graduated from Berea College in 2015 with a B.A. in Communication and later earned a M.S. in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education from Eastern Kentucky University. After graduation he began his career in admissions, managing recruitment territories across Eastern Kentucky, West Virginia, and Western Virginia and working closely with schools, communities, and prospective students and families.
He currently serves as Berea’s Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and also serves on the coaching staff as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.
Koty and his wife, Tessa, live in Berea with their three children: Blakely, London, and Lincoln.
