Parker Lifts Women’s Basketball Past Pioneers

Harrodsburg, KY – Senior Leah Parker (Livingston, KY) scored 22 points to lead the Berea College women's basketball team past Campbellsville-Harrodsburg 70-66 Tuesday night in Harrodsburg.

Parker proved deadly from long-range throughout the game, going 8-9 from the field, including 5-6 from behind the arc.  Sophomore Destiny Combs (Louisville, KY) registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Sophomore Aaliyah Hampton (Hopkinsville, KY) added 17 points and six rebounds and senior Bailee Vanover (Richmond, KY) chipped in 10 points and grabbed seven boards.

Berea was up 59-42 after three quarters and survived a late surge from the Pioneers, who outscored the Mountaineers 24-11 in the fourth quarter.  Berea shot just 40% from the floor for the game, but managed to go 9-18 from three-point range.  The Mountaineers converted 11 of 20 from the charity stripe.

The women's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 USA-S) opens conference play this weekend, hosting two USA South opponents for Homecoming Weekend.  The Mountaineers will host LaGrange College at 2:00 PM on Saturday and Huntingdon College at 1:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.
