Berea, KY – The Berea College men's basketball team opened their regular season with an 84-73 win over the University of the South Saturday afternoon in the Seabury Center.
The Mountaineers started slowly and were down by as many as 15 points in the first half as the Sewanee Tigers shot 58% from the field and made seven three-pointers. But Berea finished the half on a 10-2 run, including back-to-back three-pointers from sophomore

Berea continued to cut into the Sewanee lead throughout the first 10 minutes of play in the second half, finally taking the lead on a Caudill jumper with 9:32 left in the ballgame. The Mountaineers would not trail again in the ballgame, outscoring the Tigers 27-17 down the stretch for the win.
Charlton and freshman
Trey Minter (Louisville, KY) both had 22 points for Berea and Caudill added 20 points and six rebounds. Sophomore
