BREVARD, NC. - Berea women's soccer team traveled to Brevard College for their second game of the season. The Mountaineers were able to start quick and score first in the game, but were stymied by the Tornados' defense for rest of the game.
The Mountaineers were able to score first in the game, scored by Junior Alanis Daugherty in the 10th minute assisted by sophomore Abigail Hansford. The Mountaineers were then playing defensive for almost rest of the half, trying to fend off the relentless attack by the Tornados. The Tornados were finally able to breakthrough, with a goal from Taylor Richardson on a through-ball by Abbie Petrosky in the 33rd minute. Mountaineers defense, led by the captain, senior Stacy Keruwa was able to help the Mountaineers enter halftime tied, 1-1 on the road.
In the second half the Tornados dominated the game, holding control of the ball most of the half on the Mountaineers side of the field. The Mountaineers were also unable to do much on the offensive side of the fall, failing to register a single shot in the half. The Mountaineers defense was highlighted by freshman goalie, Perris Colemon-Harville, who 4 of her 6 saves in the 2nd half. Firing off 14 shots in the half, the Tornados were able to convert twice, once on a free kick by Emma White in the 64th minute, and then again by Taylor Richardson for her 2nd goal of the game in the 74th minute.
The Mountaineers were unable to do much all game due to the Tornados' strong defense and their fantastic passing. Perris Colemon-Harville was able to register 6 saves, her career high. The Mountaineers were out-shot 25-2 in the game.
