HUNTINGDON, AL. – The Mountaineers lost a close game to Huntingdon College 67-60 to close out the season series with the Hawks. The Mountaineers led the game going into half time (1st time all season), but were not able to hold onto the lead at the end. The Mountaineers were again led by reigning USA South Rookie of the Week, Freshman Trey Minter (Louisville, KY).
Freshman Trey Minter (Louisville, KY), who had a game high 24 points and added 4 rebounds. Minter was 7-14 from the field, also going 3-6 on from beyond the arc. Minter was able to get to the charity stripe 12-times, but was only able to convert 7 of those attempts. Terique Miller (Richmond, KY), also continued to be a leading scorer for the Mountaineers, ending the game with 8 points and added 6 boards. DeAndre Lightfoot also added 9 points for the Mountaineers off the bench, shooting 4-9 from the field.
The Huntingdon Hawks were led by Ceaunte Zachery who scored 13-points points and added 8 rebounds. Cameron shot 5-11 from the field, going 2-3 from the charity stripe. Ty Clark scored a double-double for the Hawks, scoring 11-points and adding 10 rebounds.
The Mountaineers led for the first time this season going into half-time this season. At one point in the game, the Mountaineers led by as much as 6-points. However, the Mountaineers were not able to hold off the Hawk's momentum and fell short at the end.
Up next, the Mountaineers will play at home for the first time season, hosting the Maryville College Scots February 13th and 14th. Tip-off is slated for 6 PM Saturday and 3 PM Sunday.
