BEREA, KY. - Berea men's soccer team traveled to Brevard College for their third game of the season. The Mountaineers were stifled by the Tornado's possessive play in the game and lost 3-0.
The Mountaineers struggled in the game overall to keep consistent possession of the ball in the game. The Tornados were able to connect passes very well in the midfield eventually breaking through the Mountaineers' defense. Vinicius Giannaccini was able to score his 4th goal of the season on a cross into the box by his teammate Adam Spencer. Giannaccini was able to head the ball into the back of the net. The Mountaineers were then able to tighten up their defense and formation to keep the rest of the half scoreless. Unfortunately, the Mountaineers were also unable to get anything going on offense, registering 0 shots.
In the second half the Tornados started out quick, scoring in the 52nd minute of the game, assisted by Vinicius Giannaccini. The Tornados were also able to score in the 69th minute on a defensive miscue by the Mountaineers. Giannaccini was able to steal the ball from the Mountaineers defense and find the back of the net to score his 5th goal of the year and 2nd of the game. The Mountaineers were then able to shutdown the Tornados for the last 30 minutes of the game. The Mountaineers were able to register 3 shots, 1 on goal in the half but were not able to cut the lead of the Tornados.
The Mountaineers recorded 8 saves but conceded 15 corner kicks to the Tornados.
