Merriweather Notches Career-High as Mountaineers Defeat Agnes Scott

Box Score DECATUR, Ga. – The Berea College women's basketball team remains unbeaten after defeating Agnes Scott 75-35 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Mountaineers sit at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in CCS action.

Sophomore Jayden Merriweather had a career performance as she scored a game-high 23 points while knocking down six shots from beyond the arc, both totals are career-highs for the guard. Junior Aaliyah Hampton had a nice overall game as she finished with 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Freshman LynKaylah James finished with a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Fellow freshman Joyce Mukalamusi added 12 rebounds of her own.

The Mountaineers had an overall great team performance, as eight players recorded at least one assist and nine players grabbed a rebound. This is the second consecutive contest that Berea has held its opponent to under 40 points and under 30% shooting from the field.

The Berea College women's basketball team steps out of conference play to battle Spalding University on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Louisville, Ky.
