Softball Recap: Mountaineers Compete in Four Games at Wesleyan
Game 1: Mountaineers vs. Wesleyan College
Berea College softball played four games this weekend at Wesleyan College, including a three-game series against Wesleyan and a matchup with Brevard College. The Mountaineers captured their first win of the season while going 1–3 on the weekend and 1–2 in the series against Wesleyan.
On Friday, March 6, the Mountaineers faced off against Wesleyan, but the Wolves got out to an early lead that Berea was unable to overcome, resulting in a close 5–4 loss in the first game. Mackenzie Howell led the offense with 3 RBIs, while Kelly Wiard contributed with 1 RBI and 1 run.
Game 2: Mountaineers vs. Wesleyan College
Later that evening, Berea played their second game against Wesleyan and fell in another tight contest, losing 11–10. The Mountaineers started strong, scoring four runs in the first inning and two in the second, but Wesleyan rallied late to secure the win. Kelly Wiard had a standout performance with 4 RBIs and 2 runs, while Mia Lewis recorded 2 RBIs and 2 runs. Emily Searcy also contributed with 1 RBI and 3 runs.

Game 3: Mountaineers vs. Wesleyan College
Berea bounced back on Saturday, March 7, with an impressive 15–7 victory over Wesleyan. The Mountaineers' offense exploded, scoring three runs in the first, second, third, and fifth innings. Mackenzie Howell finished the game with 4 RBIs and 1 run, Mia Lewis added 3 RBIs and 4 runs, and Kelly Wiard contributed 1 RBI and 2 runs in the win.
Game 4: Mountaineers vs. Brevard College
In their final game of the weekend, Berea faced Brevard College on Saturday at 2 PM, where the Mountaineers unfortunately suffered a 9–0 loss. Candice Williams recorded one of Berea's standout hits in the game.
The Mountaineers will return to action on Tuesday when they host Grace Christian University in a doubleheader, with games scheduled for 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
