Kentucky Wesleyan Foils Women's Basketball

Box Score

For the fifth time this season, the Berea College women's basketball team was on the road tonight to take on NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers in Owensboro.  This road swing has proved challenging for the Mountaineers as they have struggled to get on track; tonight would be no exception.

The Panthers jumped out to a 10-0 lead, and they would make that lead last as BC struggled to get points on the board, especially in the first half as they shot 29% from the floor, and 20% from behind the three point line.  BC fought feverishly to catch-up in the first half, pulling to within a single point of KWC on a pair of free-throws from the hand of Katelyn Butler with 7:09 remaining.  KWC would go on a 18-6 run to close the half, with a 13 point lead.  They would make that lead last the remainder of the contest.

The Mountaineers were led in scoring by Rayveen Shead and Jamie Roberst with 13 points each, while Anna Loveless chipped in 11, off the bench while Johnesha Warren contributed 10 points.  Shead also led the way with nine rebounds, while Alexus Calhoun pulled down eight boards.

BC will be back in action - once more on the road, as they travel to Taylor University on Saturday for 1:00 pm contest.  The Blue Crew will finally host their home opener on Wednesday, December 3 at 7:30 pm when they welcome Centre College to the Seabury Center.
